This dinnerware set consists of 3 pieces: a plate, small bowl, and tortilla warmer. This set was design for the presenting, assembling, and eating cochinita pibil tacos. Cochinita pibil is a traditional Mexican slow-roasted pork dish from the Yucatán Peninsula.
Cochinita Pibil has a lot of juices, because of the way it is traditionally plated all the contents of the plate becomes soggy. This dinnerware set is specifically designed to prevent and preserve the content of the plate.
The pibil will be served on the flat portion of the plate. The inclined surface will direct the extra juices away from the rest of the meal into the indented floral design. As the meal progresses the bright orange juices will color the indented floral design. Once the tortilla is removed from the warmer, it is placed in the raised holder. This will keep the tortilla warm and dry as you assemble your taco.
Extra thick walls will keep the indisposed tortillas warm for longer. The yellow accent color draws inspiration from the sunny Yucatán Peninsula. To further prevent soggy food the purple pickled onions that crowns the taco will go in this small bowl to separate its juice from that of the cochinita pibil’s.
